Arduino: One board, many projects
by Ruth Suehle
Whether you’re building robots or want to create some killer Halloween decorations, Arduino is the open source answer to putting electronics in your DIY projects. Craft: magazine has posted instructions for getting started with Arduino, targeted at a complete beginner.
A few ideas to get you started:
- Build joysticks to play a creative version of Pac-Man.
- Need more nostalgia than that? Try Arduino Pong instead.
- Control the kegerator temperature for your open source beer.
- Build your first robot.
- Skip building the wall-avoiding robot and just hack your Roomba.
Whether you’re ready to get started or still need more ideas, Make: (the parent publication of Craft:) is a one-stop shop. Arduino is so popular with their readers that it now has its own tag on the blog, making the projects easy to find, and you can buy the board in their store. For even more project tips, you can visit the Arduino Playground to see what other people are making.
Arduino’s software and hardware are distributed under a Creative Commons BY-SA license. Visit the Arduino site to download the open source IDE for free. Then you can install Arduino on Fedora.
And after you build it, tell us about it!
