You can add libraries if you edit the .pro file and add:
LIBS +=
and then run qtopiamake to create a qtopia specific makefile.

You can debug phone stuff, as we created the 'phone simulator' to simulate phone calls and other things for the QVFb. Or, you can use phonebounce mode on the Greenphone you can use the Greenphone's modem from the QVFb.

One reason why we made the SDK a virtual machine is that Windows (and Mac) users can also develop Greenphone software without having to install Linux. We also do not have to produce and test several different package formats and various distribution versions may not be compatible with each other. We can also distribute various tweaks to make things work a bit more smooth, such as the Qtopia 4 application wizard in KDevelop. You also have all the libraries and development files to develop for the Greenphone, as well as an easy setup of your development environment. It also takes out the distribution variances element in supporting the SDK.

Just a note that Qtopia has updated their EULA since the Linuxlookup.com article came out:

Linuxlookup.com also did a Trolltech Qtopia Greenphone and SDK review, without holding punches. Perhaps check out their honest opinion: http://www.linuxlookup.com/review/trolltech_qtopia_greenphone_and_sdk_review
